Learn more about social prescribing in Regina and Saskatchewan

Social prescribing supports adults aged 55 and older by connecting them with community and social resources — things like activities, companionship, cultural connections, and everyday practical help — rather than relying on clinical care alone.

People can be referred by health and community professionals such as doctors, nurse practitioners, home-care staff, paramedics, pharmacists, or emergency responders. You can also simply ask about connecting — no formal referral is required.

Community Connectors listen to what matters most to each person, help identify local activities and supports that fit their interests and needs, and follow up to see how things are going. Regina's initiative includes both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Community Connectors.

The initiative has expanded in Regina with support for a second Community Connector, allowing more people in the community to be reached.
